China and the United States should be partners, not rivals, President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday in a written speech upon his arrival in the United States for a state visit. A series of dispatches by the Xinhua News Agency cited the president as saying that the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can go hand in hand, complement each other and benefit the world. Xi said he looks forward to in-depth exchanges with his US counterpart Donald Trump on major issues concerning bilateral ties as well as global issues. He said the “historical logic” of peaceful coexistence between Beijing and Washington has not changed, and he looks forward to enriching the constructive Sino-US relationship of strategic stability.
